Beginner Burton Snowboard/Boots/Bindings?

Posted on October 31st, 2009 by admin

Okay, so i just started snowboarding this season (3 trips) and i totally fell in love with it. i’m planning on buying a board and gear for next season, so i did my research. for now, i am still riding down the intermediate trails, but i eventually plan to hit the harder slopes and the parks. since i don’t want to buy super expensive gear, my online research suggested the Burton Clash(board), the Freestyle boots, and the Custom Bindings. Have you ever used any of these products, and if so, how well do you think they would fit my situation?

avoid burton…if it matters to you…any respectable snowboarder with any relevance in skill will look at you as a poser (unless it’s the OLD burton from the early to mid 90’s before burton sold out). and if you’re trying to avoid expensive gear…you HAVE to avoid burton all together…they are the most overpriced, poor quality, over-rated gear on the market. I’d trust a no name brand before I’d trust burton. Scrap your board, and binding selection. First things first…do you want to stick to the mountains or do you eventually want to make your way to the park. DO you want a stiff boots, because if you ever go to the park you’ll want a mid to low flex boot. and for bindings…the burton customs are over-rated.

You pick your equipment based on how you plan to snowboard. If you are going to remain freestyle for the life of the board go with a reputable brand like morrow, k2, ride, GNU, forum, etc. Boots, Vans and 32’s are the most comfortable..and if you want a more custom fit for a little more money get the focus boa’s. Finally for bindings…if strap-ins are the way you want to go…try to k2 cinch or anything by tech9, ride. They have better quality than your mainstream "i just snowboard for the name and the looks" burton.

Snowboarding… Burton bindings and boots?

Posted on October 31st, 2009 by admin

If I have a pair of women’s size 7 Burton boots, would I need SMALL or MEDIUM bindings? (The bindings are Burton as well).
Thanks in advance!

Size 4-6 uses small bindings. For you, I would say a medium. Hey check out the deal at sierrasnowboard.com for bindings.

Can i get this pair of matorcycle goggles as snowboard goggles?

Posted on October 31st, 2009 by admin

http://oakley.com/pd/1317/3079

do they have that pair as the same thing but for snowboarding?

and where can i get it, a link would be good

you can definately get them for snowboarding..but unless you live on the west coast where the sun is always bright i would not go with a fire lense. i use to ride with oakley wisdoms fire and they were impossible to use at night also i would just go with a nice pair of A-frames or wisdoms (idk your budget but maybe check out some anon goggles i’ll give you a link at the source) the major difference between snow and mx goggles is the cushioning and the venting. the venting is what will prevent your goggles from fogging up.

Will Drake bindings fit a Burton snowboard?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

I am looking at these Drake bindings on ebay. . . http://cgi.ebay.com/DRAKE-MIKEY-LeBLANC-SNOWBOARD-BINDINGS-LARGE-BLACK-NIB_W0QQitemZ150320149181QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSnowboarding?hash=item150320149181&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50#ebayphotohosting

I need to know if they will fit a Burton snowboard. There’re not for me, I don’t snowboard but I have a friend who wanted to buy these a few years ago and I want to surprise him.

no those will not fit on a burton board. burton boards use a three hole pattern or Infinite channel System. the ICS will need to be used with burton specific bindings but the three hole system can not be used with the type of binding you are looking at. They are meant for boards that have a 2×4 or 2×6 hole pattern.

what is the best UK website to Buy a snowboard boots and bindings?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

If you’re buying boots, I would recommend going in to a store, rather than buying online. the reason for this is that snowboard boot sizings wildly differentiate by width, brand and fit.
Most people recommend trying at least 5 pairs on to see which you feel most comfortable in – remember you will be wearing them for a good few hours each time you board, so you don’t want to get stuck with rubby, blistery boots!

If you go to a good store like The Snowboard Asylum (part of Ellis Brigham) you can have your boot liners heat moulded to your feet, meaning snug fitting boots every time!
Another plus of going instore is if you go to one actually in a snowdome (Xscape, Chillfactore etc) they will let you "try out" boards and bindings. this means you can see what style of binding is best for you – Caps, Straps or flows. Again, the Snowboard asylum are amazingly helpful with this!
If you do want to shop online, i would recommend –

Happy boarding!

Best snowboard bindings out there?

What is the lightest most responsive men’s snowboard bindings out there?

If you are looking for the most responsive binding you want a stiff freeride binding. Not a softer freestyle binding.

Some of the best ones that come to mind are:

Nidecker Act Carbons http://www.nidecker.com/bindings?id_article=33
Burton C60 http://www.burton.com/Gear/Default.aspx#/gear/productdetail/mens/bindings/10493/204407001/
Union Force-MC http://www.unionbindingcompany.com/product/snowboard-bindings/force-mc
K2 Auto Ever http://www.k2snowboarding.com/product/auto_ever

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I need a snowboard bag but I have Flow Bindings…?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

So they don’t go down all the way like normal bindings, so would buying a normal snowboard bag be okay??

Like this one;

My husband has almost the exact same bag and both our snowboards fit in there, so I think that if your bindings don’t go all the way down it should be fine.

Water in between Snowboard Goggles, double lens?

Posted on October 28th, 2009 by admin

i have a pair of double lens Snowboard Goggles, and used water to wash them all the way off, and water got traped in between the two lens. I was wondering how i could get the water out of them without ruining the goggles. Will the water come out on its own?

Either the two lenses are not sealed, or the seal has broken. If you know where the water came in, first try a hair dryer. You just want to blow dry air across the water so it will evaporate.
