I’m new to snowboarding. Is it alright to leave my bindings on my snowboard?

I just bought my first snowboard this year. I was wondering if it would do anything to the snowboard if I left the bindings on for extended periods of time. Its going to be spring and summer soon and I was wondering if I should take them off of my board if I’m not using it for 7 or 8 months.

You can remove them if you need to store them in a tighter spot but if you leave them on just make sure that your whole setup is very dry and stored in an airtight water-free place or you will end up with beautiful rust allllll over your edges.

Interchangeable bindings and boards for snowboarding?

I am looking to buy burton bindings for my snowboard, but my snowboard is not a burton. Can I put the burton bindings on my snowboard? Or do I have to buy the bindings of my snowboard’s company? Thanks.

try to avoid burtons…over the last 5 years their quality has gone down while their prices have gone up. This is coming from an avid snowboarder of 15+ years. All or at least most bindings I have come across have come with two sets of base plates, one for standard and one for the burton type setup. And no you are never required to buy the same brand of bindings as your board…only a Burton person would think of such a travesty. Also, take into consideration other bindings and other types of bindings. If you can find them Flow Pro S series are great (in spite of what you detractors might say about Flows) and course you have toe caps and cinches…but the cinches are super heavy, traditional straps have an excessive pressure point on the toe portion of the boot, so my recommendation try flows (higher ends are better) or the new toe caps which replace the toe strap with a cap that allegedly secures your toe down.

I pretty interested in buying this flow the five binding, but i’m getting mixed reviews. Should I buy the flow bindings or do you have any other recommendations of other bindings

here is the flow binding

Flow has nice high end bindings real good for convenience if that’s what you’re looking for, I think you can get some Rome Arsenals or Bent Metal Biscuits for under 160$. Those are both good bindings.

Few places I might try would be

sierrasnowboard.com
moosejaw.com
backcountryoutlet.com
dogfunk.com
the-house.com

Who makes the best snowboard boots and bindings?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin

I’m buying new boots and bindings. In your opinion who makes the best boots and bindings? Also I’m kindof worried whether I should stick to the same companyfor both the boots and bindings or if it’s ok to use boots from one company and bindings from another? Thanks for the help!

When it comes to buying boots you should try and compromise between style and comfort. Last season I spent 3 months teaching and was pleased with the burton boots I had chosen, but they weren’t the ones I wanted. Different companies have different fits, burton and thirtytwos tend to be quite a wide boot, but salomon tend to be narrower. If you have a narrow foot and really like a burton boot try to go for something more suitable for your foot, otherwise you could be in pain from poor fitted boots and therefore not ride and improve as well as you could. If you ask at your local shop they should have a good idea of the fits and always be sure to get something that feels snug so that you can wear them in, other than getting something that’s comfy and then once you’ve worn them in find that your heel lifts in your boot.

On the issue of the boot/bindings combo. It shouldn’t be too much hassle if you switch brands if you go for something similar eg Burton boots with Ride bindings. That said I has burton boots with Salomon bindings and board and after a bit of playing around got them to feel how I wanted them. Depends on how much you are willing to play around with them to get them just how you want them.

At the end of the day, the boots are the most important bit of kit you own, if those aren’t good and comfy then you could have the best board and bindings and be an awful rider. If you really hate them you could always get some really baggy pants to cover the boots up. Trust me on this one.
