will a standard FLOW binding base plate work for my bindings?

Posted on October 4th, 2009 by admin

i am going up north on a snowboard trip this weekend and i need a new baseplate for my bindings fast. I have some flow bindings but im not quite sure what model they are. the closest model i could find is the FL-55. if i just got a baseplate from that model would it work for my bindings?

NO.

Baseplates are very specific. Although they may fit and feel perfect, the teeth do not line up as they should. A pro broke his leg because of this. When he landed, the teeth slipped, and the binding turned around with his foot in it.

Not to scare you, but it is not worth the risk. Call the manufacturer and have them send you new ones.

What type of Flow bindings are best?

Posted on October 1st, 2009 by admin

I’m looking to buy some Flow bindings, but I’m not sure which ones are best suited for me. I’ve only been snowboarding for two years, but I’m doing all the terrain park features (jumps, rails, all that good stuff), and the slopes that are closest to me are fairly short, so the right Flow bindings could help me get a lot more runs in.

none. if you want a park binding, get ride alphas, ride betas, k2 auto ever, or union force.
if you want the speed of flows, get the k2 auto or the k2 auto ever. traditional straps, but when you strap the ankle in, the toe straps in at the same time. but personally, i ride ride alphas

flow merc snowboard with 5150 bindings any info?

Posted on September 28th, 2009 by admin

i have a flow merc snowboard that i got with 5150 bindings any good?

That’s a decent beginner set-up.

All 5150 bindings are pretty basic. They’re cheap but they’ll get you down the hill alright. If your going to upgrade, I’d upgrade these before your board, though.

The Flow Merc is Flow’s entry level all-mountain board. Pretty durable and a medium-soft flex. Not bad if you’re just starting out, but I wouldn’t ride it more than your first season (at most two seasons), because your skills will quickly progress beyond this board.

Flow is better known for their bindings. People either love them or hate them, though. As long as you get the mid or upper range bindings (M- series or NXT series), they’re great. Burton and K2 also make good bindings if you’re looking to upgrade.

BrOADER TV ep.66 Flow gear with Tim Humphreys

First on the line is our Bro Tim Humphreys. Tim made a special 3 days trip to Europe to come in les 2 Alpes and take part in the contest that was supposed to be the highlight of the week-end. Sadly the contest couldn’t happen so Tim had lost of time to waste for interviews, autograph sessions and so on! We asked Tim to tell us more about the board and bindings he rides and why this set up was allowing him to push it and stomp the most improbable tricks. So here is Tim talking about the FLOW deck and bindings.
Check it out on video!

What boots do I have to get for Flow bindings?

Posted on September 25th, 2009 by admin

Do I have to use Flow boots or can I use another brand?

I also have another question.

If I get the Flow bindings can I put them on a Burton snowboard or do i have to get Burton bindings too.
Also does it matter if your feet stick out like 1 cm past the edge of the snowboard?

You do not need Flow boots for Flow bindings. I have had two sets of Flow bindings, and never had Flow boots. My boots were Morrows and Burtons. I would, however, try to attach the boots and bindings together before you buy the bindings. You should do this with ALL boots and bindings.
If you are buying your Flow bindings new, you will have no problem attaching them to a Burton board, as they have disks that accomodate the different insert pattern. If you are buying used and they are a really old set of Flows (like 4 or 5 years old), then you may need new disks.

I hope this helps

Edit: 1cm past the board is normal. there will be a bit of overhang. You just want to make sure you adjust your bindings so you have the same amount of overhang on the heel of your boot as on the toe of your boot (measure from the edge of the board to where you boot ends while strapped in to your bindings).
Now I have big feet, so I have like 4-5 cm of overhang… this is too much but I live with it….

I just got a snowboard with Flow bindings and it wont fit in it’s bag. Are there any bags designed to fit flow

Posted on September 22nd, 2009 by admin

I doubt that you will find one specifically designed for Flow. however, you should be able to find one tat fits. I can put my boots between my bindings in my bag and still have room to spare. Just keep looking…
