Need advice on Snowboard, boots, and bindings sizes………?

Posted on November 18th, 2009 by admin

I’m getting back into snowboarding this year after 4 years off and I completely forgot my sizes. I weigh 135 lbs, I’m 5′9 and wear a shoe size of 9.5. Can someone please recommend makes and sizes for these 3 crucial elements???? Thanks.

BTW: Reason I’m asking is because I want to save money by getting all my gear off Ebay which as u know doesn’t afford the luxury of me trying items on first. Thanks.
uhhhhhhh what?

I’m pretty sure you would get a 10 size boot, because boots come in only whole sizes (no halves) and u wud rather have it a little big then to tight which might restrict bloodflow to your feet. The bindings should be about a medium. The snowboard, depending on what you want to do, should be between 150-160cm. I am 5′9, 165, and ride a 162cm because I like going fast and carving good. I would reccomend a 154cm. Just remember, you never know what your going to get on ebay, so try to research the product your buying as much as you can. Good luck!

Do all snowboard clip-in boots and bindings work together?

Posted on November 17th, 2009 by admin

I just want to replace the boots, but I have clip-in bindings and don’t know which brand of boots I need
thanks for nothing stevie…. and your avatar is retarded

I don’t think there is a single shop who sells clip in’s anymore. You will prob have a hard time finding boots. I tried to help a family friend in this same situation recently and I had no luck.

I suggest you got to a conventional binding set up. If you are looking for something easy to use, check out some Flow bindings with a boot you like.

I got my dad out of clip in’s about 5 years ago. He loves his new set up. Always tells me how much better his boots are since he dosent have to wear the super stiff clip in boots.

If you are down for a new binding boot set up I can make some suggestions.

What is the average weight of a snowboard with bindings and boots?

Snowboard bindings-boots?

i’m looking at purchasing a Women’s Burton Snowboard(sz. 142) and Bindings(Burton size 9)…I am a womens size 10 shoe, does it matter what boots i get to fit inside the bindings, and will size 9 bindings fit a size 10 boot?

Hey Lindsey-

There isn’t a Burton binding size 9… they are sized in S, M, L for women. With a women’s 10 boot, you will always be in a size L women’s Burton binding. Medium is designed for up to size 8. If you can tell what model binding it is, I can give you some more info.
Good luck!

Beginner Burton Snowboard/Boots/Bindings?

Okay, so i just started snowboarding this season (3 trips) and i totally fell in love with it. i’m planning on buying a board and gear for next season, so i did my research. for now, i am still riding down the intermediate trails, but i eventually plan to hit the harder slopes and the parks. since i don’t want to buy super expensive gear, my online research suggested the Burton Clash(board), the Freestyle boots, and the Custom Bindings. Have you ever used any of these products, and if so, how well do you think they would fit my situation?

avoid burton…if it matters to you…any respectable snowboarder with any relevance in skill will look at you as a poser (unless it’s the OLD burton from the early to mid 90’s before burton sold out). and if you’re trying to avoid expensive gear…you HAVE to avoid burton all together…they are the most overpriced, poor quality, over-rated gear on the market. I’d trust a no name brand before I’d trust burton. Scrap your board, and binding selection. First things first…do you want to stick to the mountains or do you eventually want to make your way to the park. DO you want a stiff boots, because if you ever go to the park you’ll want a mid to low flex boot. and for bindings…the burton customs are over-rated.

You pick your equipment based on how you plan to snowboard. If you are going to remain freestyle for the life of the board go with a reputable brand like morrow, k2, ride, GNU, forum, etc. Boots, Vans and 32’s are the most comfortable..and if you want a more custom fit for a little more money get the focus boa’s. Finally for bindings…if strap-ins are the way you want to go…try to k2 cinch or anything by tech9, ride. They have better quality than your mainstream "i just snowboard for the name and the looks" burton.

what is the best UK website to Buy a snowboard boots and bindings?

If you’re buying boots, I would recommend going in to a store, rather than buying online. the reason for this is that snowboard boot sizings wildly differentiate by width, brand and fit.
Most people recommend trying at least 5 pairs on to see which you feel most comfortable in – remember you will be wearing them for a good few hours each time you board, so you don’t want to get stuck with rubby, blistery boots!

If you go to a good store like The Snowboard Asylum (part of Ellis Brigham) you can have your boot liners heat moulded to your feet, meaning snug fitting boots every time!
Another plus of going instore is if you go to one actually in a snowdome (Xscape, Chillfactore etc) they will let you "try out" boards and bindings. this means you can see what style of binding is best for you – Caps, Straps or flows. Again, the Snowboard asylum are amazingly helpful with this!
If you do want to shop online, i would recommend –

Happy boarding!

Snowboard boots/bindings question?

Posted on October 22nd, 2009 by admin

I believe my boots are centered on my snowboard, yet my toes seem to hang out farther than my heal. Should i move the bindings farther back on the board to compensate?
My heel hangs over like 8/8 of an inch but my toes are like 2 inches over… and this board is even little big for my taste… its already 161cm long and 25.5 cm wide at the waist. I don’t want to get a wider board cause im only 140 lbs.
heel hangs over 1/8 not 8/8 lol

Depends how far they are off the board. If they hang over enough for you to catch an edge as you lean on your toe side while turning or carving, they’re too far and will need to be positioned farther back. If they hang over a cm it’s not a big deal.
